step 1) Traditionally a hadajuban 肌じゅばん (kimno white underwear) is worn under a yukata or kimno. If you do not have this please use a white or beige camisole
step 2) Please put the yukata on and make sure the center seam is in the middle of your back and follows your spine. Raise the hem of the yuata to ankle height by folding the middle of the yukata near your waist.
step 3) Next is deciding uwamaehaba (上前幅), the front width and right side alignment of the garment. Please fit to your vertical body line making sure your waist and legs can move freely.
step 4)
Make sure you keep the uwamaehaba/front hem length with one hand, then decide the shitamae (下前)/under hem length with the other hand to complete the yukata`s profile. One tip is to make the shitamae/back hem height to be slightly higher than the front so only the front hem is visible when facing forward.
step 5)
After deciding the width, height and fold position of both sides, place the uwamae/font hem over the shitamae/under hem to complete the shape of the yukata.
step 6)
Start placing the koshihimo (腰ひも) "thin white belt" from the front 2-3cm above your hip bone, then continue to wrap once around your waist. A thin strip of cloth or even a thin leather belt will also work.
step 7)
Next tie the belt in front of you with a simple knot. If there is any remaining length please tuck inside of the belt.
step 8)
Adjust the ohashiyori (おはしより) "middle fold" which flows from under the belt, to folding over the belt then sheers upwards to the neck/shoulder and back. Place your hand inside the front vest above the belt to adjust the trim of the middle fold so it covers the belt entirely and is uniformly flat, making a clean horizontally line around the waist.

step 9)
Next loosen the the collar to make space for 3 fingers between the back of the neck and the back collar to create a stylish feminine appearance.
